THE STORY OF ÖRREKE

Crafts that connect

Örreke offers creative craft activities for participants of all ages. In our workshops, practical and unique items are made from simple materials, and you’ll leave with new skills and good emotions. We value environmental care, recycling, and local raw materials.

A love for crafts has been passed down through generations in our family. My grandmother taught me how to knit socks, my mother sewed clothes for our family, and my other grandmother, Ellinor Piipuu, the founder of Estonian garden ceramics, inspired me with her beautiful sculptures and everyday objects.

Örreke was born from this heritage.

Craftsmanship has been held in high regard in our family for several generations. This passion lives on in Örreke’s workshops.

HOW ÖRREKE GOT ITS NAME

Where did Örreke get its name?

Young birds love to sit on a perch, look down from above, and learn life’s wisdom. Those who come to our studio for the first time are also like young birds, thirsty for new knowledge and skills.

The Örreke generation has its roots in Saaremaa, where it’s said that the birds sit on the “ÖRREL”. That is where the name Örreke comes from.
